外交部自2010年9月起設置「臺灣獎助金」，獎助國外大學相關系所之外籍教授、副教授、助理教授、博士候選人及學術機構同等級別之研究人員來臺灣進行研究。獎助之研究領域以臺灣、兩岸研究、中國研究、亞太區域、漢學研究之社會科學及人文領域為主。基於本館漢學研究中心執行「外籍學人來臺研究漢學獎助」超過30年以上經驗及績效，外交部將「臺灣獎助金」相關行政及接待事宜委託本中心辦理，迄今已接受第9年委辦工作。本中心接受外交部委託辦理「臺灣獎助金」，一為將本中心對國內外漢學的影響力擴及社會科學領域；二為將政府間的獎助資源整合。2020年申請來臺共有332人，經過外交部召集會議討論與審查，最後選出來自41個國家的113位受獎候選人，將自2020年1月起陸續來臺進行為期3至12個月的駐點研究。待候選人自我國大學校院或學術機構取得「駐點研究同意函」後，即正式成為本獎助金受獎學人。歡迎學術單位邀請進行交流，更多資訊請見 「臺灣獎助金」 網站 https://taiwanfellowship.ncl.edu.tw/
