The "National Central Library's Arts and Audiovisual Center" is a special academic and cultural library. It not only provides artistic books, audio-visual materials, reference consultation, photocopying services, it also offers information retrieval, all kinds of book titles search, full text and digital resources. It also has online linkages to avail of the automated system of the National Central Library as well as all kinds of electronic information database and video-on-demand system.

　In order to provide artistic circles more creative spaces and venue for performances, the NCL AAC cooperates with the educational world and art groups to conduct different kinds of public conferences and exhibitions. It can become the art and performance point of encounter.

　In establishing the "Library's Arts and Audiovisual Center", the NCL hopes that it becomes a national art and audiovisual materials reservation center and a key information site. It also hopes that the Center allows the artistic seeds to germinate and grow in the daily ordinary life of people. In the process of interflow and interaction, art workers may thus be able to inspire more creativity so that the field and vision of art and scholarly atmosphere may permeate into the different spheres of the society.

Special Features of Collections

　The Center has many art and music related books, periodicals, comics, and multimedia audiovisual materials. There are over 100,000 volumes of Chinese and Western language books and over 40 kinds of periodicals on art. Different topics of comics comprise 10,000 volumes. There is a vast variety of Chinese and Western language audiovisual and multimedia materials, numbering over 100,000 in all. The Center also has 40 desks for study, 17 computers for searching, and 50 desks equipped with audiovisual playback equipment.
